FAQ

WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL/HOW DOES IT WORK?
Traditional hair removal techniques, such as shaving waxing and depilatory creams, provide only temporary relief. But now, with laser technology, you can safely remove unwanted facial and body hair. The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed by the hair. The laser energy is then transformed into heat, which disables the follicle. A cooling device provides the patient with increased comfort and protection by cooling the upper layers of skin. This process causes permanent reduction of the hair and in most cases, permanent removal.

IS IT SAFE?
The lasers used for laser hair removal are passive, they leave no residuals; therefore, they are completely safe. All are FDA approved.

DOES IT HURT?
The degree of discomfort varies with each person, depending on his or her threshold. Most individuals experience no more than a slight stinging sensation as the laser pulses are applied. Most people say it feels like a rubber band snap to the skin. Some parts of the body do tend to be more sensitive than others.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?
The number of sessions will vary for each individual and will also depend upon your skin color, your hair color, the coarseness of the hair, and where the hair is located on the body. Hair grows in cycles. During the initial procedure, the laser removes the visible hair and disables those follicles in the active phase of the growth cycle. Follicles in the resting phase will not be affected. Eventually, as these dormant hairs become active and begin to grow, additional sessions will be needed. Repeat sessions will be necessary to treat these follicles when they re-enter the early growth phase. Over time, hair growth is greatly diminished. Depending on the individual, it could take anywhere from 4 - 8 treatments to achieve your desired result.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
You can get started with us for as little as $100.00. Discounts are available with the purchase of multiple treatments.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DO A TREATMENT?
The procedure can take as little as 15 minutes, or as long as 2 hours, depending on the area being treated. Face, bikini and underarm areas are usually completed in under 30 minutes. Backs, legs and larger areas will take longer.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INCLUDE?

  1. A test area will be done prior to the entire treatment.
  2. Safety eyewear is worn by both the patient and the practitioner to protect the eyes from the laser light.
  3. A small hand piece holding a plastic gauge will touch the skin to deliver the laser light.
  4. A light spray of coolant onto the skin will be felt just before each laser pulse.
  5. The treated area may become pink or red within minutes of the treatment. This may last from a few minutes to a few hours and in some cases may even last for several days.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?
Patients scheduled for hair removal should avoid hair waxing prior to treatment. Also, any hair should be shaved and your skin should be thoroughly cleaned and dried, removing any makeup, cream, or oils on its surface before laser treatment.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN BEFORE AND AFTER TREATMENT?

  1. Avoid the sun before and after each treatment.
  2. Avoid waxing and plucking prior to treatment.
  3. Diligent use of SUNBLOCK is necessary between treatments.
